ENSONIQ ASR-10 with SCSI for Samplers Flash Drive LOG INTO YOUR EBAY ACCOUNT AND USE YOU EBAY COUPON FOR 10% OFF AND GET THE ASR-10 FOR ONLY $593.10 SHIPPED FREE!Coupon Expires NOV 30 hurry to take advantage of this offer! This auction is for a Ensoniq ASR-10. I have all the technical info listed below the images just in case you don't know what the ASR-10 is capable of doing! I am listing the negs about the unit first so that no one misses anything before you get too excited. Here they are: There are no rack ears, I bought it this way 3 years ago There are 14 total screws missing from the case. 6 being the rack mount ears that are not included, 2 on the back panel and 6 from the sides. This does NOT affect the unit and the top is securely on the unit, it doesn't wobble or shift. It is missing one rubber foot from the bottom easily replaced if you want to Very light scuffing on the top and bottom usually associated with racking one of these but I have kept it covered on my desk for 3 years and I'd dare say it's never been racked or if it has it was done very carefully.SPDIF in and out, I have not tested this and this unit does not have this option. The disc drive loads samples but I have never been able to get it to format a floppy nor save to an already formatted one. I can't guarantee that shipping will not affect that more. This meaning the floppy drive will not write to disc but as of now does read discs. Now, here are the plusses on this unit: The unit is remarkably in great condition no major flaws and none of the lettering missing from the front panel from wear. Maxed out 16mb memory (simms) SCSI allowing for more drives to be added if you wish. 8 outputs No burnt out letters (leds) on the screen All of the 8 status buttons light up as they are supposed to and turn yellow when an instrument is selected I am including the original manuals (not photo copied ones) They seem to be intact but worn and the main manual is missing the back cover Including 8 channel 1/4 " 6 foot snake Two VCR videos- EVS-1 Mastering the ASR-10 and EPV-1 The Artist of Version 2 both very informative, and the "mastering the ASR-10" video is actually a 1 hour+ tutorial on how to use the ASR-10 from how to sample on the unit, to how to use the sequencer, save songs, and banks. The SCSI for Samplers Flash card drive, SCSI cable, laptop adaptor card, and 2gb flash card (more on this below) Loaded samples on the 2gb flash card included (more on this below as well) An original version 3.53 operating system disc (which you really don't need as the ASR-10 loads the system from the SCSI drive!) Ability to daisychain more drives (a cd drive would pair nicely with the SCSI flash drive for even more possibilities) The samples I have loaded onto the 2gb flash card are original Ensoniq samples plus a few of my own. In fact I have placed the full 10 factory floppy discs on the card. This includes all of the samples plus demo songs that came with the ASR-10 originally. What makes these samples different? Well they were sampled specifically for the ASR-10. Most are multisamples allowing you to play different timber and sounds the harder or softer you play. This is especially noticeable on the rhodes keyboard samples amongst others. And many have the mod wheel changing anything from effects to volume on each sample. There are 15 banks/demo songs from the fist 10 discs and sequences that go with them. So, really all you have to do is load a bank and you hear what the samples are capable of doing in a song context. The "factory" directory/file contains 38 samples. The next file I have on the flash drive is called "extra sounds 1" It contains 4 banks of factory sounds from Ensoniq's ESP sampler collection that are designed for the ASR-1- as well. Once again samples made by Ensoniq for the ASR-10. There is one extra bank I put in there called Jazz bank that does not have a demo song but include the sounds from that Ensoniq disc as well. This directory/file also has 38 original Ensoniq samples. The last directory/file is named "extra sounds 2" It has no bank files but 10 sub directories that are: #1 Synth Bass -containing 12 Ensoniq basses and 2 basses I sampled #2 Synth Vox - containing 15 Ensoniq vocal pads, actual vocal clips (yes the Michael Jackson Woo! is on there as well as a few that somewhat sound like James Brown clips) #3 Drum Kits - containing 12 Ensoniq drum samples including loops, real sampled drums, a couple of 808ish drums and 1 kick I sampled #4 Synth String - containing 10 Ensoniq samples including brass, Strings, horns, pads, sax, and flute. #5 Synth Piano - containing 7 Ensoniq samples including pianos, electric piano, clavpiano, and pipe organ. #6 Synth Pads - containing 7 Ensoniq pad samples. #7 Synth Percussion - containing 18 Ensoniq samples including bells, synth sounds, drums, horn stabs, blocks, and 2 samples I did. #8 Jupiter 6 - containing 3 samples I did from an actual Jupiter 6 synth, a long wind loop, a bass, and a pad. #9 Alesis SR-16 - containing 8 samples I did from an actual Alesis SR-16. Each file loads up all different kicks across the keyboard for one instrument , all different snares on another, all different toms, all different cymbals, all different hats, and different bells, all different percussion, and all different percussion 2. So, there are 8 instruments and if you load them as a bank (file #9 in this sub directory) Instrument 1 is all kicks, 2 all snares, 3 all toms, ect. #10 Guitars - containing 5 Ensoniq samples including steel string, distorted electrics, and a Zither. That's 150 Original Ensoniq multi samples and 8 that I sampled plus the probably probably at least 20 samples per each instrument of the Alesis SR-16 files (I am guessing @ 150-160 samples in that file alone). So, you are talking 300+ samples are on the flash card to get you started right out of the box! Another cool thing is that the flash cards are only $20 or so here on Ebay and you could set up 3 or for different cards for different situations. Have one loaded for hip hop, one for rock, jazz, etc. And just switch them out for what ever the gig calls for. And there is NO waiting for a SCSI hard drive to start up. You turn the Flash card reader on and then can immediately turn on the ASR-10, It boots so fast and you are ready to go. The files load EXTREEMLY fast. For example I timed the Orchestra Strings sample load time from the floppy disc drive and it was 1 minute before the sample loaded. Loading it from the flash card drive took almost 10 seconds. That's one of the largest samples off the original discs. The ASR-10 in my opinion rivals most of the samplers out there today. One of the coolest features other than being able to say sample a drum hit at different volumes and then being able to trigger it from one single key, is that you can manipulate the samples in so many ways to create unique samples of you own. For instance you can load a snare sample up, reverse it, put some heavy distortion or compression on it and resample it and save it as a new instrument that's all your own style. This is a Paypal ONLY auction, no checks, or cash if you are picking it up. Here are pics of the ASR-10 and all the extras: The SCSI for Samplers flash card scsi drive (brand new!): The screen in ambient light (NO leds (letters) or status button lights are burnt out): The three manuals: The rear label showing manufacture date of 10/06/96: The two VCR videos: Here is what I was able to find regarding the technical aspects of the ASR-10: The ASR-10 stands for the Advanced Sampling Recorder - a completely digital music production studio. It's a 16-bit sampler that came in both keyboard and rack-mount versions. It shipped with 2 MB of sample memory which could be expanded to 16 MB for a few minutes of stereo cd-quality sampling time. It lets you choose from sample rates of 30 to 44.1 kHz and has all the professional sample editing functions you would expect to find from a pro sampler including autolooping, volume smoothing, normalize, crossfading, and time comp/exp. Even resampling through its effects, EQ, etc. is possible! What's special about the ASR-10 is that it is a sampler using the synthesizer architecture of Ensoniq's classic line of synths from the SD-1 to the ESQ-1. Your samples are stored as part of its WaveSample memory. The ASR-10 can hold 127 WaveSamples, which can also consist of its two multimode digital filters, the LFO, one random noise generator, three envelope generators (hard-wired to the pitch, filter cutoff, and amplitude), and a modulation matrix with 15 routable modulation sources. Up to eight layers of WaveSamples can be combined to create your final sound. In this light, the ASR-10 basically looks like an advanced TranseWave (waveform modulation) synthesizer in which YOU create its WaveSamples! The ASR-10 integrates a digital effects processor and MIDI sequencer on-board for a complete workstation. There are up to 62 effects (including vocoding) based on Ensoniq's DP/4 effects processor. A whole range of reverbs, chorus, flange, phaser, distortion, digital delay, speaker effects, etc. are available. The ASR-10's sequencer has 16-tracks and with its 31 voices of polyphony you can create some pretty complete musical performances. The sequencer (reminiscent of the SD-1 and VFX-SD workstations) provides real time and looped recording modes, 96 PPQ clock resolution, an auto-locate function, punch in/out, and other useful features. And the ASR-10 can sample while the sequencer is playing. It can store up to 80 sequences or patterns which can be chained into a song (only one song can be in memory). The ASR-10 also has a "Tape Recorder" mode in which you can record two tracks of audio for use along with the sequencer for an advanced all-in-one music making machine! Recording can be to its RAM or to external SCSI hard drives via the SP-3 SCSI interface (optional on keyboard version) for extended sampling/recording time and memory. It can support up to seven simultaneous hard disks and/or CD-ROM drives. You can even process external audio through the ASR, live or along with sequences. As mentioned, the ASR-10 comes in a 61-note keyboard version and a rack-mount. But there's more. Over the years Ensoniq has continued to upgrade it adding an AES/EBU digital I/O upgrade, digital audio recording and importing of new sound formats, and more. The ASR-88 version is an ASR-10 with a fully-weighted 88-note keyboard and the SCSI interface comes standard. The ASR-10 is compatible with Akai (S-1000/1100) and Roland CD-ROM sound librarys. A high-density (HD) 3.5" disk drive comes standard on all models. The ASR-10 has been used by Atomic Babies, Autechre, Rammstein, Jimmy Edgar, Black Lung, Rabbit in the Moon, Timbaland, Pharell Williams (Neptunes), The Alchemist, Kanye West. Ensoniq does not make these anymore and they are beginning to get harder and harder to find especially in this condition and with the included original factory samples included on the SCSI flash card. It will be packed extremely well and insured. Good Luck!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! FEEL FREE TO MAKE AN OFFER! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Please feel free to email me if you have any further questions. Insured shipping is FREE to the internal 48 US states! This is a no return auction item. But as I have stated above I have described and documented exactly what you will receive.
